My Story

My name is Wesley Bird and I was born and raised in Boyle County and I graduated from Mercer County in 2017 and after a year at Transylvania University I transferred to the University of Kentucky where I graduated in 2021 with bachelors in Management and Marketing and I minored in economics and International Business. My hobbies included fitness, sports, travel, photography spending time with my wife and working outside.

My Third of a Life Crisis

In a move I can only refer to as a third of a life crisis (living to be 100 felt to ambitious) I quit my job as a sports reporter and decided to travel the country in my 2018 Jeep Rubicon. I made a lot of memories, learn a lot of lessons and saw more than I ever dreamed up. After five month and a broke axel I returned home to start the next chapter of my life.

You can get more money, but you cannot get more time.

My Journey had no destination or goal to accomplish, but was the best thing to ever happen to me and I got to marry my best friend because of it. I wouldn’t change any part of it foe the world and I was lucky enough to take her back to where it all begin to start a new journey together in life.

The Build

The build itself took a few months and a lot of favors, but had room for my clothes, a fridge, a six foot long bed, my camera equipment and a way to cook chicken and rice. Both front seats are useable with a flip support behind the passenger seat. I have two solar panels on my roof that power a 1000 watt Jackery that keeps my fridge and everything else charged. All in all it serves as my bedroom, kitchen, closet and office while getting a not very fun 16.5 miles a gallon.

The Route

The route I followed looks bizarre, but it’s a good mix of big cities and national parks mix up my adventure and provided plenty of photo opportunities. I only planned to do this once, so I wanted to experience as much as I could. I wouldn’t change the adventure for the world.
